Action Planning
v
David James described the activity
o
Use the post-it pads provided
1. On each sheet, express
one action that you are going to take… Remember that the expression
starts with a VERB
2. State who is responsible
for getting this done
3. State by when? Be specific!
Express it in the ollowing terms: Time, Date, Month, Year
4. State who will support
this
5. State who could sabotage
this and needs to be won over
o
Write one to stick on the board, and keep one for
yourself
o
A note on effective action planning
Ø If
you find your action plans are not being fulfilled, try checking the following:
q
Is the action measurable and quantifiable so that you
and others will know when it has been accomplished? For example, if your goal is to promote your services, you
could say how many calls you will make (even better, how many people you will
speak to) or how many letters you will send.
q
Is the timeline expressed as specific times and dates
rather than ‘ASAP’, ‘soon’ or ‘next month?’
q
Are the people involved specifically identified?
